Who Pays For Sober Living?

The Forest was created to provide safe passage for those who have completed inpatient treatment and are preparing to return home to outpatient treatment or  independent living. The Forest is a welcoming home-like setting that offers a built-in support system, accountability measures, and a drug and alcohol free setting to begin adjusting to your new substance free life and lifestyle.

The Forest Team and fellow residents welcome you to The Forest Sober Living, where you are invited to stay as long as needed to feel mentally and emotionally ready to transition into fully independent living. This flexible, supportive setting is ideal for many on their recovery journey. Naturally, one of the first questions we hear is how the program is paid for and who is responsible for the costs.

Does Insurance Cover The Cost Of The Forest?

Many people in early recovery find that a sober living home like The Forest plays a vital role in building healthy habits and a strong support system. These elements are key to transitioning into a fully independent, addiction-free life. However, it’s important to understand that most insurance plans do not cover the cost of sober living. Coverage is typically limited to licensed treatment programs, such as rehab facilities that provide formal addiction services.

Medicare follows similar guidelines. While it may cover clinical addiction treatment, it does not pay for sober living homes, as they are considered non-medical, supportive housing environments rather than treatment providers.

  • Loans can be secured from banks or other lenders that specialize in funds to cover sober living facilities until employment can be secured and established
  • Personal loans or gifts from friends and family can also provide a solution that will help you rebuild trust and establish a level of accountability to those who are important in your life
